Welcome to WORMSS.net . I am a 23 year old Multimedia Designer, working in design for websites, graphics and animation.
On this website you will find various collections documenting some of my work from over the past few years.
The collections are listed above as:
Graphics - Containing Raster and Vector based images that have been produced for various projects.
Website - Containing an assortment of websites I have created for personal and professional use.
Assorted - Containing a variety of mixed media developments.
I have been surrounded by computers from a very young age and have found myself to be very adept at multimedia and computing, working on my first website whilst attending secondary school and developing self taught skills in HTML, CSS and basic skills in PHP.
I decided to take Art and Computing at A-Level, but wished to further my knowledge and expand my horizons into the area of study I favoured the most, Multimedia, which seemed to perfectly encapsulate the two A-Level courses I had already taken. So I enrolled onto the BTEC National Diploma in Multimedia at City College Coventry and in addition to my HTML, CSS, PHP and other varied computing skills I gained a higher understanding of Graphic, 3D Modeling, Animation, Sound and Video and Production packages and techniques.
Whilst undertaking my BTEC National Diploma in Multimedia I also undertook a course of self taught PHP, XML, Javascript and further studies into HTML. I found that I excelled in using the new web based languages and that my proficiency meant that I could integrate these languages into my websites and future projects with ease.
With my new skills in PHP, XML, Javascript and HTML I found the web based modules of my BTEC increasingly easy to complete, so much so I had time to give my fellow students guidance in the more complex and troublesome assignments.
I achieved the highest grade given on the BTEC National Diploma of Distinction, Distinction, Merit in July 2004.
I joined the BTEC Higher National Diploma in September 2004, to complete the available and appropriate education path open to me. This course was a direct continuation from the BTEC National Diploma, which gave me the opportunity to advance onto the 3rd year of a relevant University course.
I found the BTEC Higher National Diploma effortless and straightforward. My tutors noticed this and also my advancement in all modules and often asked me to assist them in tutoring my classmates in the more difficult aspects of the course. Towards the end of the HND the tutors asked me to start teaching PHP to the other students, however due to time constraints this never happened, but I did create a useful Powerpoint presentation, intended for use as a teaching aid, to assist students in learning PHP. I used this concept to fulfil a later project also.
During my time at City College Coventry, on the BTEC Higher National Diploma, I also undertook some freelance website design and coding.
I have worked with the Managing Director of Matthew Sparkes, working on website code for the Regency Health Club to create a dynamically built time table, allowing the owners of the website to change the information with ease, using a content management screen and an additional backup feature.
I designed a website as publicity for a local actress / artiste previewing her portfolio of head and full body shots, her work as an artist, designer and stage management team member and also her full up date CV. She also has the ability to change any details or pictures using a text based database system, easily accessible via ftp.>
I created a website for the Walsgrave Hospital Golf Society including a timetable for future and past games, a directory of golf courses with contact details and a result listing for successful players. This website is a major example of my work with a MySQL database management system and a more advanced content management.
I completed the BTEC Higher National Diploma in July 2006 and used the grades achieved to enter a course at University.
I chose to apply for a placement on the BA Honours Multimedia and Computing course at Coventry University. The advertised course seemed to offer me everything needed to complete my progress in education and to give me the skills needed to achieve well in my future career. However, the faculty heads from Coventry University were intending to scrap the course and were dubious about putting me onto it. I communicated my desire to enter onto this course and requested a meeting with course heads to show them my abilities in Multimedia and, convince them that I was the right candidate for this course.
After seeing my work they quickly agreed to let me onto the course, however decided to place me onto the 2nd year rather than the 3rd, even though my HND gave me a sufficient grading to proceed straight onto the 3rd year!
I came onto the course in the Autumn of 2006 and succeeded in completing many assignments and essays. However, during the course of the next few months I became aware that the aspects of the course I was hoping to cover were not being taught and that the course was more hardware based, but I persevered looking forward to the next year of study.
Shortly before the Easter Holiday I was informed that the course elements I had been hoping to study had been dropped completely and that the hardware elements to the course were being expanded.
I used the Easter Holiday to evaluate what the course now had to offer me, and towards the end of the Holiday I had decided to leave the course.
I am now wishing to enter into a career within the Industry using the skills, knowledge, experience I have acquired over the years for personal and professional projects and my abilities to learn quickly. I believe I have a great deal to offer in the Multimedia and Computing Industry and a good deal of potential.
So, please feel free to look through my website and at some of the work I have achieved over the years, if you have any questions or queries, as a potential employer or client, please feel free to contact me.
